    Often times television and other forms of media can glamorize persons who are really just jerks. That's what this song is about to me.

    Millions of people across the nation seem to love the narrator's friend, the title character, but the narrator knows the ugly truth...however, sometimes even he is fooled by the media attention.

    "Backstabbing Liar is, imho, about Mr. Flansburgh. He hurt someone's feelings, stole their ideas...and all of his fans are unaware. They believe that he's finally "learned to write songs" or something...
