This single was only released through the Hello CD of the Month Club, for
November 1996. It was released in lieu of a Gordon Gano CD that was originally
scheduled for the month of November. The CD features four songs, and runs around
10 minutes. The song "Imaginary Friend" was originally known as "Felt Tip Pen"
when Mono Puff was performing it live during their 1996 tour. According to
Flans, "Felt Tip Pen" was written on the way to a gig, so that the set could
be longer. The song is rumoured to be about the cartoonist Tony Millionaire,
and his fondness for felt tip pens. On the single, the lyrics are slightly
different and the song is much slower and mellower than the live version. Eric Schermerhorn, former
guitarist of They Might Be Giants, played with Mono Puff for the EP version
of this song.
