This song, in my mind, is about excessive greed, and wanting more than you deserve out of certain people, then it all backfires in your face.

For example, the narrator of this song talks about asking Santa for "a bag of money," then later, Santa falls on the narrators arm. After robbing a bank, the narrartor tries to get home, but is spotted by the cops, who had obviously talked to witnesses that identified the thief as a guy with a cast.

Its about Santa-Anna, who was president of Mexico during the Mexican war. I think that it's being sung from the point of view of James K. Polk, who was president at the time. Anyway...Santa-Anna lost his presidency...so he and Polk started scheming...if Polk would help him get back into office, Santa-Anna would settle the war, in America's favor (and for Polk, getting all that land would be like Christmas)...so Polk helps him regain office, and, like a backstabbing liar (sorry 'bout the reference) he cheats Polk and leads his army in battle against him...i've got a few more details to work out...ah well...
