"The deal with the song is it leaves it up in the air as to whether or not Richard Nixon is like, a cool guy or not. It basically just says: Nixon's the one."

    Interpretation by Orion Bob
This song is not meant to be taken seriously. Nixon really didn't do many good things while in office. Infact the only thing he will ever be remebered for is the whole Watergate thing. I feel it was mildly influenced by an old Steve Martin joke, Steve said "I dont like to make fun of Nixon, it's so old it's like making Ike jokes, and besides I feel bad for the guy. I picture him, you know, walking along the beach...big old baggy shorts on, and a metal detector..." I also believe this held influence for the TMBG song "Metal Detector."
